No person shall willingly and knowingly keep Africanized bees. Any person keeping bees for noncommercial purposes shall obtain zoning certification from the Director and provide an affidavit certifying that the owner understands and agrees to comply with the following requirements:. Each colony shall be housed within a hive. Hives shall be comprised of a combination of brood chamber and supers which do not exceed six 6 feet in height above ground level, including any stand or rack upon which the hives are placed.

An appropriately sized water source for the exclusive use of the colonies shall be maintained on the same property where the colonies are kept to the satisfaction of the Director. Activities associated with the growing and harvesting of crops and the operation of plant nurseries and greenhouses shall be controlled so as not to result in adverse impacts on nearby properties. The sale of agricultural products on the property on which the products were grown is permitted. The raising and keeping of chickens as an accessory use to residential properties is regulated under subsection B 3 d of this section. Activities associated with the raising and keeping of animals for agricultural purposes shall be controlled so as not to result in adverse impacts on nearby properties.

By the way you may want to read what is the definition of small animals as there is specific info there. We live in a R zone. We can have 4 hens. However , the property and fence and coop must meet the rules so take a look. I will let you do that on your own Currently our property could comply, but there is one issue in the rules that is going to be an issue if i allow the chickies to roam in the back yard.
